The maple sugaring season is well under way at the Robb Family Farm in W. Brattleboro, Vermont. Read all about it in this recent Brattleboro Reformer newspaper article.

Charlie Robb Sr. and his wife Helen, along with their son Charlie Robb Jr. and wife Karen, run the sugarhouse operation. The Robb Family Farm is also a small dairy farm and due to challenging times in the dairy industry, the Robbs have come to rely on their spring maple syrup crop to supplement their income, helping the farm to weather falling milk prices.

"It's strange, milk prices in the supermarkets are not coming down while Americans are struggling to make ends meet, yet small dairy farmers like us are just making it. Dairy prices started getting a little bit better a while back, and then the prices began to drop again. If it wasn't for our small maple sugaring operation to supplement our income, we don't know what we'd do. There's not a farm out there that isn't diversified in some way." Read more...
