factory store The staff at Maple Landmark are dedicated to producing high quality childrens' wood toys that are durable, safe, Made in America, and backed by a satisfaction guarantee. Rest assured, when you give your child wooden toys handcrafted by Maple Landmark, you're giving a gift that will last a long time and your child can build upon and add to his/her wooden train set over the years.

Maple Landmark was founded in the 1970's by Michael Rainville in his parents' basement, in Lincoln, Vermont. What began as an after-school and summertime hobby soon turned into a business making spool holders, cribbage boards, and wooden vehicle kids toys. He began by selling at local fairs and consignment shops with the first wholesale sales coming in 1979.

Currently Maple Landmark employs nearly 40 people and sells their wood toys, including wooden train sets, train whistles, Montgomery Schoolhouse Classics and other toys to over 3000 gift shops and toy stores throughout the country and abroad. They also make some unique items, such as a tooth fairy box and a hobby horse toy that have become quite popular over the years. Maple Landmark thrives on the feedback and ideas of their customers, so don't be afraid to call and tell them what you want to see next.

name train Though Maple Landmark produces a wide range of wooden toys, the one item that deserves the most attention is the "Name Train", or the proper spelling of NameTrain (without the space). It is the centerpiece for the product line. A child can start off with a small train and then, over time, build a complete and most impressive train set, adding one or two pieces at a time. Everything works together from track pieces to accessory vehicles. Often similar trains from other manufacturers are even compatible.

What our staff at PiecesOfVermont.com has found wonderful, is not only does Maple Landmark have an outstanding product, but their customer service staff is extremely responsive to the needs and concerns of their customers. It's no wonder why they have become a leading toy manufacturer, and one of the only remaining wooden toy manufacturers in the United States. Perhaps it's because it's a family-owned and operated business.

Family "We like to consider our company to be like a family but there actually is a lot of real family here. It is common to find four generations helping out. Not only are there Mike and Jill but Mike's sister Barbara, mother Luthera "Pat" and her mother Harriett. Mike and Jill's boys, Adam and Andrew are around when not in school or other pursuits."
