Country Shop and Sugarhouse in Winter The Robb Family Farm, a southern Vermont small working farm just outside Brattleboro Vermont, has been in operation for five generations. The Robbs' small, cozy, Country Shop, which is adjacent to their maple sugarhouse, is filled with craft items, baked goods, Vermont cheeses, and maple syrup products, all in a room that is heated by an old-fashioned woodburning stove. It is from this cozy, often snow-covered sugarhouse that the Robbs pack and ship hundreds of mail order requests each year.

Holiday Gift Basket For the past 25 years Owner Helen Robb and her family have created delightful holiday gift baskets and gift boxes using their own maple syrup products, Cabot cheeses, and various other Vermont specialty foods. Helen's baskets and gift boxes are unique, with a certain old-world charm thanks to the materials she uses. The baskets aren't your traditional round Easter bunny basket, they're square or oval-shaped with handles. She includes three or four delicious items and keeps the price very reasonable for her customers. Each and every baskets is put together by Helen personally, using her many years of experience at the art of gift-making, so you can be sure the recipient is getting a great gift. That's probably why her customers return to her year after year!

Vermont cheese If you like cheese, then you've come to the right place. Vermont cheese is well known for outstanding flavor and quality. The Robb Farm is proud to offer two of Vermont's finest cheeses - Cabot and Sugarbush Farm. Both are awarding winning cheeses that are not only wonderful for cooking and snacking, but they also make delicious gifts for friends and family. The Robb Farm actually provides milk to Agrimark Dairy, who in turn supplies milk to Cabot Creamery. Cabot then makes their delicious cheddars and the Robbs buy back the cheese for their store at wholesale.

More about the farm...

Imagine if you will, getting up at 4:00 a.m. each morning, going downstairs, starting the coffee, having a Vermonter-style breakfast (pancakes and real Vermont maple syrup, along with a slab of Cabot cheese), and then pulling on your boots before heading out to the barn to feed and milk 110 cows. Well, that's precisely the start to Charlie Sr. and Helen Robb's day. The start.

The Robb Family The rest of the day consists of tending to all the other chores associated with their small Vermont farm, from cleaning the barn and haying, to gathering maple sap during the spring maple sugaring season.

"A farmer simply can't take a day off, because dairy cows gotta eat too!" says Charles Sr.

When it's maple sugaring season, the Robbs have about a 2-3 week window of opportunity to gather maple sap and boiling maple syrup for the entire year. Needless to say, it's busy, busy, busy around the farm, and the sugarhouse is always bussling with activity.

"Life is good in Brattleboro Vermont," says Helen. "We wouldn't want to live anywhere else, and we really do love farming. You have to love it. It's too tough running a small farm these days, but we've been fortunate to have a strong family and lots of help from people along the way. Brattleboro has always supported us, and that's reassuring."
